I need help with a mean father?
Hi,
I am 18 years old and I have two younger siblings, a brother 13 and a sister 16. For the past 4 years or so, my father has been particuarly mean to me and my mother. He never says hello to me, laughs and yells in my face, makes mumbling noises or laughs ("ha ha") whenever he is around me, calls me an ungrateful bitch. He is equally mean to my mother.
But the thing that upsets me is his double standards that he applies to his selective love to his offspring. He tells me he hates me, but tells my brother and sister that he loves them and that they’re such a good boy/girl right infront of me, which then he proceeds to look at me as if he’s saying it on purpose. He sucks right up their asses. He’s paying for my sister to go to America for a holiday for the 2nd time, and taking my brother to Disneyland for his birthday, when he failed to say happy birthday to me, or even a hello on my birthday. He took a ‘family’ holiday earlier this year - first saying that it was boys only (him and brother), but failed to tell my mum that my sister was going too. My mum begged and cried to come on holiday as she thinks my brother is growing up too fast and wants to cherish these precious moments, but he refused. And it wasn’t because of a shortage funds. He didn’t want I or my mother there.
Another thing that hurts me is the way he treats my boyfriend. My boyfriend is handsome, intelligent and a real gentleman when it comes to relationships and women. Yet when he comes to my house, he says hello to my dad and he says nothing back and walks in the opposite direction - when my boyfriend has done nothing wrong. However if my sister or brother invites friends over, he laughs and tells jokes, makes them banana milkshakes and is nice and friendly to them.
It’s so unfair! I have not done anything since year 9, I got excellent grades in my final year of highschool, but there wasn’t a single congratulations or well done from him regarding my efforts.
I don’t know what to do. I want to move out but have nor the resources or money to move. I confide in my boyfriend sometimes, but there’s not much he can do. My mum knows how he treats me, and they get into fights about it, but my dad is so blind by his actions - he thinks that what he’s doing is completely normal. He won’t pay for food, or the odd textbook I require for Uni, or even a birthday card, yet has all this money for holidays and golf carts. He also afforded to get a copy of my car keys, so he can move it off an on the driveway - he could just ask me to move it? It’s just another way to avoid contact with me.
I am sorry about the length.
P.S. It’s not because I have a boyfriend. My 16 y/o sister had a boyfriend and dad invited him over for a BBQ..?
Mum can’t divorce because she got her hours cut in half at work and all her pay goes on bills
Ok i could be way off but it sounds like maybe your mom cheated on him and you are not his. that could cause the anger tword you and your mom. Unless you did something really bad and your mom backed you.
mac | Mar 17, 2010
This can be considered abusive behavior. Also making a copy of your car keys can be illegal if it was without your permission. Solving this type of problem is tough. It depends on how you want to handle it. You can call the police or department of social services. You can also just suck it up and carry on with your life. Either choice is tough to make and what you want to deal with.

Okay well first of all your 18 so you can move out..
But if you cant thats another situation i don’t see your father doing all this without you doing something to piss him off..you need to understand no father is happy about his daughter having a boyfriend i mean am not even a father but if my daughter had a boyfriend i would break his face well you cant forget hes your father he brought you into this world he paid for your food housing school ETC for 18 years so either talk to him about it or suck it up and wait until you can move i mean your 18 if u were 15 or something that would be different suck it up some fathers abuse u got it easy

Wow this is a hard hitting state of affairs. I really feel for you having such a bastard of a father. Its obvious he bares a grudge against u and your mother for some reason. I feel for both u and your mother, but why does your mother let it happen? Your mother should find strength to leave this bully of a so called man, coz thats all he is if he can make 2 womens lives miserable. I dont know where u live but in England we have a housing system, so u could leave home and see citizen advice or the housing co and tell them u have had to leave home due to an abusive father. Has your father always been this mean? I cant understand why your mother would want to be with a awful human being!!! U will eventually hit rock bottom which in turn will effect your confidence…this u do not want to happen, so u need to take action now!!! U r 18 so your father had no rights to get a copy of your car keys without your permission. Have u confronted your father why he is a twat to you? Im sorry I cant help you anymore….u need to deal with this as the adult you are and stand your ground, u r a human bein not a piece of shit on the bottom of his shoe. I wish u al the best and hope u and your mother find the strength to stand up to this vile man. All the best.

i’m very sorry to hear this jane,
i kind of know what it feels like.
i didnt read the full length but bits because im in a hurry and i needed to tell you this:
maybe he doesnt like your mother, and he seems your mother in you. so as a reaction he dislikes you.
i dont know the reason why he doesnt like your mother could be anything. men are weird complxed creatures.
love your mother and all the people that love you.
dont let the ones that dont care get in your way.
life is hard as it is. i know all those things hurt you. we have major financial problems but my dad doesnt give us money but gives to other brothers children bcz they have no father. i find that unfair too but somehow i dont think of it.
my mom gets against me very often cause my little sister keeps filling her eears. i still care for her more than anythin but she haardly gives a shit.
i feel so alone sometimes cause when shes angry my moms taking care of her. when im sad no one cares.
my dad openly says he loves the elderest daughter. my mom says she loves the youngest. so im the middle one whose always stuck.
i always take care of them like making no mess and listenin to what they say. but its no use.

Regardless of this man’s reasoning for his obvious difference of treatment regarding you and your mother, this is his home. Regardless as to why your mother continues to stay with him, you are an adult at 18 and are now living on borrowed time and what little graciousness he does have by allowing you to stay in the home.
Don’t look for answers as to why he’s behaving this way or that way. Just stay focused on what you need to do while you must remain in this home. Your mother may not be able to stand ground for you because she may have her own reasons for not wanting to make too much of an issue about it other than a few fights when the treatment gets too unbearable. Just know this, that you are an adult… you must look to be responsible for yourself even though you may be looking for additional parental care while you’re still going to school.
Your boyfriend merely adds additional tension and I would recommend going somewhere other than your home to spend time with him. Seriously start planning and saving for your independent living arrangements as your father’s behavior is apparently only getting to be more progressive. Also there could be more sinister things advancing besides just the hostility you’re interpreting in him. He could advance to the stages of physical abuse of either you, your mother, your boyfriend or even your other siblings. I recommend staying with another person for a few days to ascertain what type of effect your being gone has on him. You may find that you’ll want to try to move sooner than later.
If all else fails, contact a local church or even a counselor at your school and inform someone that this behavior is going on. They might have resources you could try or if nothing else it will serve as a testimony of sorts if things become too far out of control. Whatever you decide to do, try not to dwell on your father’s treatment of you versus the treatment of your siblings. This will only further upset you and it seems that your father apparently receives some twisted pleasure from causing these feelings within you. Do not give him this satisfaction over you. If need be, treat him as a generous host allowing you temporary privilege to stay in his home for the duration of your stay in the home while you’re attending school.

 The Errand of Angels (2008)
IMDB rating: 7.60
Plot: A wide-eyed sister missionary arrives in Austria to begin her 18-month-long mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite having to make a few cultural adjustments, Sister Taylor meets every challenge with optimism. Her enthusiasm to share the Gospel makes her indomitable, until she finds herself with an abrasive companion whom she doesn’t understand and doesn’t particularly like. This challenge, along with the ordinary vicissitudes of missionary life begin to wear on her, and thus in the process of sharing the Gospel, Sister Taylor finds herself gaining a better understanding of its key precepts: faith, repentance, forgiveness, and charity.

The Errand of Angels
Directors: Vuissa Christian
Actors: Peyitch Vlasto,Family
Do you believe that the Lord God reigneth over all?
It is clear from Scripture, then, that the angels, good and evil, are under God’s control, and willingly or unwillingly carry out God’s purpose. Yea, SATAN himself is absolutely subject to God’s control. When arraigned in Eden, he listened to the awful sentence, but answered not a word. He was unable to touch Job until God granted him leave. So, too, he had to gain our Lord’s consent before he could "sift" Peter. When Christ commanded him to depart–"Get thee hence, Satan,"–we read, "Then the Devil leaveth Him" (Matt,4:11). And, in the end, he will be cast into the Lake of Fire, which has been prepared for him and his angels.
No revolving of a world, no shining of a star, no storm, no movement of a creature, no actions of men, no errands of angels, no deeds of the Devil–nothing in all the vast universe can come to pass otherwise than God has eternally purposed.
Your thoughts
This is Absolutely true. God is omnipotent, which means that He cannot create something that He cannot have power over.
But as a Christian I also believe things like.
"All things happen for the good of those who love the Lord"
–Proverbs
All things does not mean everything except diseases, or mosquitoes, or Garrido monsters. It means all things.
A non christian may consider that a bit off, but Christians also know that God, has promised to "make all things new".
Essentially all this means in the Christian worldview, that nothing in this life can actually be lost. Technically, everything I have, including my life, belongs to God anyway since he created it all. And yes He will take it all away.
But He will remain, and His promise will remain, for those who are faithful. God is not limited to my short lifetime, to put all things right. He has all of eternity to make right that which has gone wrong.
For those who mock Him, and shake their fist at Him, and demand justice…..
I fear it is justice that He will give them.
Hope that helps.

My thoughts, Raphael?
Sounds logical to me. But, then I’m not an atheist,
and apparently you’re not one, either.
Make no mistake about it, though: no less than ten
billion people, all over the world, would emphatically
disagree!
khahrosh | Sep 06, 2009
No, I do not believe that.
I believe that all religions were invented by humans. All gods are myths.
In ancient times people were very afraid of storms and earthquakes and volcanoes and many things. They thought the gods or the spirits of the ancestors might help them, if they worshiped and sacrificed.
Then a few people made religion so that certain individuals could gain wealth and power. And it’s been building ever since.
Finally in the 21st century, in the West, people can say they’re Atheist, Humanist or Agnostic. This is wonderful. Freedom is wonderful. Kindness, love and compassion come from the human mind. Live your life now, with love and compassion.
Elsie Treize | Sep 06, 2009
Yep, that’s it.
Toni | Sep 06, 2009
True Love allows freedom of choice, whether right or wrong. Therefore complete control is not complete Love.
God is Love to the perfect fullness.
Angels were allowed a choice, adam and eve were allowed a choice.
God Almighty reigns, similar to parents who reign in the family, though the children have been given instructions out of love, they have a choice, obey or rebel. Does this mean when they rebel, that their parents were in control of their wrong behaviors, not if these parents were teaching them true and loving behaviors.
Though God created the angels and mankind, He did not create sin or rebellion, He is still Lord God Almighty, and as the free choices may lead us away from Gods teachings, His Way(meaning His Word of Truth-The Holy Bible), will reach beyond this sinning world to a world without sin, to me, Our Lord God does reign.
It isn’t the individual wins and loses that make the real winner, it is the total at the end!

Why buy new holy or stained jeans?
I feel really old for thinking this, but i’m only 25. I think it’s moronic to go buy new clothes that already have large holes and yesterday while shopping i saw some already stained a kinda red mud color, as if they had been washed with a clump of red clay. Furthermore a few places on it had brown stained spots…. I guess my question would be why do some ppl find this fashionable. In my middle and high school years ppl that dressed like that were known as scrubs now it’s high fashion???
Dear u may see www.instylez.com you’ll find the solution there. I was having the same question in my mind but it helped me resolving that. Keep using answers.yahoo.com and very best of luck.
Miny | Mar 17, 2010
I never did. I made the holes myself. Do them yourself, run a blade or sharp knife on them then wash them several times. And in my days, they were grunge look.
I actually saw how designers lay a model down, and they take paint & brush and they just splatter paint all over their outfit and they call that FASHION.
Remember, what’s in today is out tomorrow. Make your own fashion and you’re always IN. I never throw away my old clothes, because I’m always in, the following year. I just mix & match.

my juno is libra
which i find reallly odd because i could never see myself with a libra
Aries is a good possibility.
Cancer is not such a bad guess (but much less smooth).
EDIT: This is how i go about potential partners. If you like guys, i look at the Sun. If you like girls, i look at the moon. So in your chart i looked at your sun, which is conjunct Mars.
Mars rules Aries, so there you go! Then your sun is opposite to the moon (pretty tight orb). The moon rules Cancer!
This really works for me, pretty much ALWAYS!
Then, I look at other aspects that would reinforce this possibility of being with someone ruled by That planet. In your chart, it is not real easy to tell. Sorry! But having a fire ascendant, and given the aspects that Mars forms, I would say that Aries is the best guess i can give you!

your romantic affairs is found in the 5th house which is aries. this means that most of your romantic affairs would have a lot of aries influence in their chart. your romantic affairs have a lot of aries traits
your 7th house shows your first marriage and it says on your chart that it will be gemini. this means that you first marriage or business partners would have a lot of gemini influence in their chart which means lots of gemini traits.
your juno sign which i don’t see in your chart supposedly means your life partner or your ’soulmate’. the juno sign is supposed to be the traits of somebody who will complete you and what you need in a partner. these traits may not necessarily you think you want in a partner but your juno sign is what you need to complete you and will be happiest with

The perfect chance i missed?
Back home in Ghana (West Africa) when i was walking with my friend we met 2 girls that my friend knows and one of them was a half Lebanon and half Ghanaian she was so beautiful that she looked like a princess when she gave me a smile i couldn’t look at her smile because of her beauty so i had to look at the ground while my friend finish talking to her friend the next day when she was going to school she smiled at me and looked away. I was so shy i couldn’t say hi to her she kept on doing that everyday when she sees me around the area but one thing i notice that she doesn’t say hi to me and she kept on doing that but if it was my Uncle or anybody she would say hi or morning to them but she would not say it to me so one time when i was riding my bike with a friend she was with a boy and when she saw me she me smiling but she thinks i was smiling at her but i wasn’t because my friend was telling me a joke and one of the boys she was with was calling her name Loretta for 3 times but she couldn’t give any response because she kept on looking at me. So the next day i met one of her friends and i told her friends that i liked her when she told Loretta about it she also told her friend that to tell me that if he likes me he should come to my house and say it to me. When her friend said that to i was surprised so i couldn’t go i am sorry that i can’t continue but i have to go but i wanna know if she likes me or love because anytime when i talk to my friends about it they well tell me that she likes me or loves me and since i left my country i am worried that she well forget about me if i come back and because of my shyness i couldn’t talk to her like a man but still a young teenage kid at age of 17 making a new life in Toronto Canada.

 Cloverfield (2008)
IMDB rating: 7.60
Plot: Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of a hand-held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character.

What movie is this Family Guy scene a reference to?
In "I Dream of Jesus" (the episode where Jesus returns and becomes a celebrity), Peter gets a record of the song "Surfin’ Bird" and plays it non-stop. Eventually Stewie and Brian are collapsed on the couch, worn down by the non-stop song, and blood is trickling out of Stewie’s nose as he says "I don’t feel so good." Now, everything I’ve been able to find says this is a reference to Cloverfield, a fairly recent movie. But I’ve never seen Cloverfield, and I’m convinced there’s an earlier movie that has a scene like this. My memory says it was something of an apocalyptic or dark movie, and there are people are dying of some kind of illness (maybe just these particular characters), which is why there’s scene with a couple of people sitting together with blood trickling out of one’s nose while music plays in the background. Am I just imagining this, or was there a movie like that?

Plot: The wide generation gap between Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her teenage daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) is more than evident. They simply cannot understand each other’s preferences. On a Thursday night they have a big argument in a Chinese restaurant. Both receive a fortune cookie each from the restaurant owner’s mother which causes them to switch bodies next day. As they adjust with their new personalities, they begin to understand each other more and eventually it’s the mutual self-respect that sorts the things out.

and about playing drums.. what types and kinds of drums are there and which are the best?
and roller blades what kinds of them are there and which are the best?
and is it too late to start playing drums and learn roller blading?
the drum in freaky friday the movie are amazing what kind are there?
D: THANXXX
and how long will it take to learn both of them? as in timing (a week, a couple of weeks? a month, two or what)
Age isn’t a limit. I know people in the 50s, 60s, and 70s that have learned.
Drums will take years to get good, if you have talent. The pros still learn and improve after decades.
Learning inline skating is much faster. You should be up and skating in a few days with the basic movement skills. You won’t look out of place and skating is a good, low impact, way go get exercise and tone up the legs, bottom, and waist.

How could this be, that the myths of these pagans were so close in form and function to the story of Christ?
An astounding example of the similarity of myths from culture to culture is the myth of the hero king. The broad outline of the common "functions" (as mythologists call the significant parts of a myth, legend, or folktale) compiled by Lord Raglan follows:
1. The hero’s mother is a royal virgin;
2. his father is a king, and
3. often a near relative of his mother, but
4. the circumstances of his conception are unusual,
and
5. he is also reputed to be the son of a god.
6. At birth an attempt is made, usually by his father
or his maternal grandfather, to kill him, but 24 THE KEY
7. he is spirited away, and
8. reared by foster parents in a far country.
9. We are told nothing of his childhood, but
10. on reaching manhood he returns or goes to his fu

Why does my father-in-law behave this way?
My father-in-law has several behaviors that I cannot understand and need explanations for:
1) He roams around in his underwear brief in front of me and changes his clothes in front of me although me and my husband have told him not to.
2) He keeps scratching and rubbing his penis and balls and one one occassion did that while I was casually talking about lunch with him and he was standing just 2 feet away.
3) Once very recently, he was lying on the bed with his back to me in my house, watching tv, and he knew I was behind him sitting on a chair watching tv too. He put his hand behind in his pajamas and began scratching his butt, then used his fingers to scratch his butt hole and then his hand went lower and he used his fingers to scratch his balls hard.
4) He always interrupts me while I am talking with my husband and tells him to do other things.
5) Once he insisted that I cook for the day when I and my mother had already informed him day before that we will be going out to celebrate my first wedding anniversary in a restaurant as I was tired and I would get a break from cooking.
6) He stands too close to me when I am working in the kitchen (about one feet) and once when I had bent to remove dishes from the dishwasher, I was unware he came behind me and then he poked my butt with his finger and said "Hey, move aside!" He then took a dish from the dishwasher.
7) Twice he came into me and my husband’s room without knocking. The first time was when I was a 3 month old new bride and it was 5:30 am in the morning. The second time was recently, where he opened the door without knocking at 2:30 am (both times the door did not have a lock) in the morning because he said he thought it was 5 or 6 am in the morning and he saw the lights on in our room. He did this although my husband has always told him to knock before opening the door.
My background information is that we are from India but living in US, and my father-in-law is living with my husband. I and my husband have to live far apart (1500 miles) due to our jobs. I get to see my father-in-laws behaviors whenever I visit my husband or they visit me. I am always wondering why my father-in-law behaves this way and if father-in-laws typically behave this way?
He is like this because he has no respect for other people. He may not have grown up with this taught to him, but it’s just not in his makeup.
Your choices are to either live with it, or wait until he kicks the bucket before you move in with your husband. Your husband is a real piece of work as well, putting his father before his wife.
P.S. A lock on the door is only ~20$, so it’s pretty lame not to install one.
Good luck with that,

Not typical. Focus on getting your own home. Visit infrequently.

Is that what he told you , well he lies . I don’t have a husband

Um no, it’s not typical behaviour at all. Sounds like your husband needs to have a talk with him about showing a little respect and consideration.
If he does other odd things, you might want to check to see if he has Asperger Syndrome… they don’t pick up on negative reactions from others very well.

No it’s not normal. He is clearly overstepping his bounds by making you uncomfortable. He either knows it bothers you and does it anyway, or is just one of those people that has no consideration for how others feel. Next time he’s scratching himself, get up and leave the room, or if he’s talking to you while doing, tell him he can finish talking to you when he’s done (and then you leave the room).
As for the kitchen, turn and face him, ask if there is something he needs or if he wants to cook instead and ask him to give you some room.
It may be very hard to say these things to him, but you must stand up for yourself. Make sure your husband knows about these and ask for his help in getting him to stop.
I used to date a guys who’s father was like this, and was always trying to get me to kiss him hello on the lips, or "accidentally" touching my butt. He was in a wheelchair so I felt bad for him, but finally I realized he was just being a creepy lech.
